TECHNIQUE THURSDAY, Thumping Daisies...

This is a quick card I made for one of my hostesses.  Since I haven't shown the thumping technique on my blog before, I thought I would share it here today.  It is a very easy technique that uses our watercolor markers.  Technique directions follow the recipe.

For the sentiment, I used one of my go-to stamp sets, Thank You Kindly.  This stamp set is one of the sets you can choose for FREE with a $50 purchase through March 31.  To see the other stamp sets you can choose as your Sale-a-Bration reward CLICK HERE.  Enjoy!

  • Tools – Big Shot, Square Lattice Embossing Folder (#117335, $7.95), Sponge Daubers

THUMPING TECHNIQUE DIRECTIONS:
  1. Ink your stamp completely with a lighter colored Classic ink pad.  Bold stamps work better with this technique than outline stamps.
  2. Using the side of the brush tip of a darker colored marker, start tapping or "thumping" on the stamp image to add darker spots or streaks of color.
  3. Continue to "thump" the marker on the image until you added enough spots to create a marbled look or your desired pattern of color.  Use additional colors, if desired.  I went a little overboard on the Certainly Celery thumping as I couldn't see the color on the surface.  Oops!
  4. Huff on the stamp to re-moisten the ink.
  5. Stamp on the cardstock.
  6. Adhere to your finished card.
