MEANT TO BE WHITE ON WHITE CARD...

Hubby and I celebrated our 37th anniversary last night (this picture was from a few weeks ago) and today I have the white on white card I made for him to share with you!  I usually don't make him such a frilly card, but I've been wanting to make a white on white card for a while, so he got to be my guinea pig!

I love the stark simplicity of white on white even if the card itself is not a simple one.  I added lots of texture and depth to this one!  I think this card would be a wonderful wedding card, but could it could be the perfect Valentine, anniversary, engagement or bridal shower card as well!

For the center panel:  I first placed the heart die in the center and ran it through the Big Shot, putting the heart aside.  Then I embossed the center panel with the Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder.  Aren't you thrilled that this folder made the CarryOver List?  One of my favs from the Holiday Catalog!  Next I used Sponge Daubers to apply Frost White Shimmer Paint to the panel to give it a pearlized look.  Then when assembling the card, I placed the heart die cut back inside the center panel when adhering!

The sentiment is a 1" strip that was punched with the Everyday Label Punch centered on the strip.  Hope you enjoyed my attempt at a white on white card!

BAROQUE LOVE BIRDS WEDDING CARD...

Jenni is attending a wedding tomorrow and made this card for the happy couple.  She was inspired by my Love Birds 60th Anniversary card, but reinvented it in a whole new way.  The couple's theme is Black, White & Silver, so these are the colors she wanted to use for the card.

Jenni sponged Frost Shimmer Paint on the raised portions of the embossed Top Note piece as well as on the Love Birds and the white butterflies.  It adds the perfect tone on tone sheen.

For the sentiment, she used the Petite Pairs stamp set.  That set has quickly become one of my favorites!  It is perfectly sized for punched pieces and the I love being able to pair the sentiments for the card front and the inside!  Check out the picture at the end of the post for all the adorable sayings!

LOVE BIRDS 60th ANNIVERSARY CARD...

Today I wanted to show you another of my entries for the Splitcoaststampers Creative Crew.  This one was the Love Bird challenge.  I changed it up a bit for a 60th anniversary card for my husband's aunt and uncle, Joan and Bob Cowie (Congratulations to them!).  It would work equally as well for a wedding card though.  Here is the challenge info:

CCREW0611HF, CreativeCrew, SUO or SUM - Holiday/Seasonal Focus: *Love Birds* It wouldn't be right to have June, weddings, flowers, etc without the birds! Let this Love Birds Shower Ensemble inspire you! You do not have to do wedding cards, however you must use a bird.

I chose a Center Step fold for my card (FREE tutorial at the end of the post).  I decided to go with a mostly white card with lots of texture to it.  Everything was embossed with embossing powder or an embossing folder or both!  Even the window sheet was embossed!  I also used the Illuminate Smooch Pearlized Accent to add some definition to areas of some of the dry embossed pieces.  White doesn't have to be plain!  Enjoy!

CENTER STEP CARD TUTORIAL:
(click photos to enlarge for more detail)

1. Cut card stock to 5-1/2" x 11".

2. Using your paper trimmer in the portrait position, align the left side of your paper on the 1" mark.  Insert the cutting blade at 1" and cut from 1" down to 6.5".

3. Flip card stock over and repeat on the other side.

4.  Put your scoring blade in your trimmer.  With the card stock in the landscape position and the cut lines toward the left side, score from the edge of the card stock to the cut line at 1", 2" and 6.5".  Repeat on the opposite side of card.

5.  Score BETWEEN cut lines at 5-1/2".

6.  Fold all the score lines as follows:  the 1", 5.5" and 6.5" score lines are mountain folds.  The 2" score line is a valley fold.  Use a bone folder to make folds crisp.

7.  Stamp and embellish your card as desired.

HAPPY I DO DAY BRIDE & GROOM HEARTS...

Saturday, one of my friend's daughters is getting married.  This is the card I made for her.  I punched up these bride and groom punch art hearts from some that I made a couple of years ago.  This card has lots of layers and depth!  I used embossing folders and Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spray on all the white layers.  You can find a tutorial for the all-around punch borders I did on the white layers HERE.  I popped a lot of the layers out on Stampin' Dimensionals although you can't tell in the picture.

I LOVE this sentiment from the Word Play stamp set.  It's so fun!  Inside I kept it simple with two sentiments from the hostess stamp set, Occasional Quotes.  Hope you enjoy Megan's wedding card!

DOWNLINE SHARE...

Today I wanted to show you a card that one of my newest downline members, Barbara Mock, sent me.  This is a wedding card that she made with some retired products-- the All Year Cheer III stamp set and Walk in the Park DSP.   Isn't it beautiful?  She has already began holding workshops for a small group of friends as well.  Way to go, Barbara!

BUTTERFLY LOVE ANNIVERSARY CARD...

It's good to be home!  Finally getting settled back in and trying to catch up on everything.  It appears that a few of my scheduled posts did not show up for some reason, so I will be republishing those.  They're Christmas projects, but they're still good for next year, right?

Sunday was my 29th anniversary, so I decided to make this card for my wonderful hubby, Michael.  It turned out to not be the most masculine card with a butterfly and pearls, but I liked the sentiment and I am always a huge fan of Black & White (okay, Vanilla in this case) designs.  Plus I have had this card in my head ever since I saw the new Framed Tulips Embossing Folder in the Occasions Mini and I needed an excuse to make it.  :o)  So now it will be for my parents anniversary and I will Mike another one.

Of course, I LOVE all our embossing folders, and this one is no exception.  I find that I use embossing folders on most of my cards because they really add depth and interest to your card.  I especially love that this new design allows you to "inset" your DSP so perfectly.  And it works so well to emboss the card base itself.  Definitely one of my favorites from the new Mini!  Enjoy!

SNEAK PEEK WEEK, PROJECT #6, The Music of Love...

Another hot day here in Virginia Beach!  And the next two days will be even hotter!  Went to a nice cookout with friends for the day and then went right to work on today's Sneak Peek Project #6 for you.  You all may have noticed that I love Black & White design.  So back to the pool for today's card.  I think it would work well for Anniversaries, Weddings, a more masculine Valentine's Day or Just Because.

I went for a very simplistic card with some vintage flair, again using the awesome Newsprint DSP and Artistic Etchings stamp set.  The sentiment is from the upcoming Hostess Level III Occasional Quotes stamp set - another awesome stamp set.  I also used one of my favorite ribbon styles - the 1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain.  I am so happy it is staying in the line as so many of our ribbons are retiring on June 30.  Even better, beginning July 1, it will be available in lots of new yummy colors:  Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Rich Razzleberry, Night of Navy, Marina Mist, Certainly Celery, Early Espresso (replacing Chocolate Chip) in addition to our current colors.  Hope you enjoy it!

The MUSIC OF LOVE SUPPLIES:
  • Stamp Sets – Artistic Etchings ( W #118517 $18.95, C #120573 $14.95 beginning July 1), Occasional Quotes (Hostess Level III)
  • Card stock –  Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Newsprint DSP (#117166, $9.95)
  • Ink – Basic Black
  • Ribbon  – Basic Black 1-1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (#115615, $9.95)
  • Accessories – Silver Foil Smooch Spray (#118771, $4.95),  Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430, $3.95)
