STRAW HAT EASTER TRINKET BOX...

In your Easter Bonnet, with all the frills upon it... this Easter Bonnet Trinket Box is one of the projects from my Easter Class.  It is cased from an idea I saw by Elizabeth Freiter and I just had to make my own version.  I changed it up to look more like a straw hat, added tags, etc.  The little box is formed around one of our Stampin' Store Containers.  At only .66 a piece, these are so economical for use as an adorable trinket box!

The flower uses a combination of the Faux Suede technique and the Crumpled Roses technique, although I made this flower a little more open and casual.  Tomorrow, I will share another version of this trinket box that I did, so be sure to come back and check it out.  Hope you enjoy my Easter Bonnet!

PETAL CONE BIRTHDAY FAVOR BASKET...

Isn't this a fun little favor basket?  We made this box at my Birthday Bonanza class last month.  No stamping and minimal embellishment on this one.  Just a cheery little box to use for a  birthday favor.  Or change up the DSP/card stock for a baby shower or wedding favor.  And it's made with the Petal Cone Die!  Yet another use for this awesome die!

The DSP is the Sale-a-Bration Ice Cream Parlor.  So cute!  This is the last week to get your FREE paper (or stamp sets, etc.).  Don't miss out!  The tutorial for the box follows the recipe.  Enjoy!

BIRTHDAY FAVOR BOX SUPPLIES:
  • Card Stock – Pacific Point, Ice Cream Parlor DSP (#122242, FREE w/$50 purchase through March 31)

BIRTHDAY FAVOR BOX DIRECTIONS:
(click photos to enlarge and see details)

1.  Cut out two of the Petal Cones with Petal Cone Die.

2.  Fold the Petal Cone in half.  On your cutter, line up the top scoreline at 3".  Holding the guard down tightly.  Cut.  Repeat with the second cone.

3.  Keeping the Petal Cone folded, line the cut bottom at 3/4" (on the the Paper Cutter/Scorer, that is the left edge of the guide) and score.  Turn the Petal Cone over and repeat on the other side.  Repeat with the second cone.

4.  Cut out the corner of the tab portion as shown.

5.  Cut on the center score line up from the bottom to the score line as shown.

6.  Apply Sticky Strip to the side tab and one of the bottom tabs of each Petal Cone (same bottom tab on each cone).

7.  Remove red cover from one of the side tabs.  Adhere to the underside of the other cone on the untabbed side as shown.

8.  Remove the red cover from the other side tab and adhere to the underside of first Petal Cone on the untabbed side to form the box.

9.  Remove the red covers from the bottom tabs and fold the adhesived tabs in.  While holding the box square, fold the opposite bottom tabs in over the adhesive tabs.  Place the box on your working surface and use your bone folder on the inside of the bottom of box to press and make sure the tabs are securely adhered.

10.  Apply adhesive to the front and back top flaps.  Fold each in and adhere to inside of the box side.

11.  Using the Crop-a-Dile, insert a Jumbo Eyelets in each of the top side flaps.

12.  Thread the Pom Pom Trim through the Eyelet and adhere back onto itself (underside) with Sticky Strip.  (see finished picture at top)

13.  Cut DSP panels using the template at the right.  Adhere to the center of the sides.

14.  Finish decorating as desired.

TUESDAY TOOL TIP, Stampin' Dimensionals...

Stampin' Dimensionals are one of my must-have tools.  They seem like such an little insignificant accessory, but the use of Dimensionals adds a huge punch to your project.

Features & Benefits:
  • Double-sided, self-adhesive foam mounts
  • 1/16" diameter
  • 300 per package
  • Use multiple Stampin’ Dimensionals for multilevel projects or added height
  • Great for layering and 3-D effects

Stampin’ Dimensionals are the easiest way to give your projects an instant 3-D look.  They add interest to your project and kick even the simplest card up a notch.  Just stamp an image, trim around it, and attach it to your project with a Stampin’ Dimensional.  Here's an example of how Stampin' Dimensionals can improve the overall appearance of your project:

Don't be afraid to stack multiple Stampin' Dimensionals so that you have varying heights.  This adds fabulous depth and "dimension" to your project.  In the card above and the close-up to the right, I used multiple layers of dimensionals to give a mounded (or rounded) loo to the hydrangea.

Stampin' Dimensionals don't have to stay in their hexagon shape either!  Cut them in half or even smaller to fit the size of your image as I did with my hydrangea.  It makes them even more economical.  You will get a lot of bang for your buck with just one package of Stampin' Dimensionals!

I especially love using them to make sentiments stand out as shown in the above card.  I often punch sentiments out and back with another punched piece.  You can attach the Dimensionals to just the sentiment with the second piece flat on the card or have the sentiment flat on the punched piece and the dimensionals on just the punched piece and then attached to the card.  Or you can even have dimensionals on BOTH the sentiment piece and the punched piece!

Stamping Dimensionals are also great for attaching 3-D objects such as flowers, tags and bows.  This will add a lot of "pop" to your project.

HOT TIP #1:  Do you ever have trouble getting the backing off a your Stampin' Dimensional?  Peel your Dimensional from the sheet and attach to the back of your pop piece.  Then just press your thumbnail into the center of the Stampin' Dimensional.  This action causes the edges to lift up allowing you to peel it back.

HOT TIP #2:  Want to corral all those little hexagon paper backs from your Stampin' Dimensionals?  Make a large loop of packing tape and stick it on your work surface.  As you are working, just stick the backs onto the tape until it is full and start a new one!
