VINTAGE VALENTINE LOVE CARD featuring the Lots of Love Letterpress Plate...

Happy Valentine's Day, Everyone!

Today I have the Valentine I made for my hubby.  It is a CAS (Clean And Simple) card with a decidedly Vintage feel.  This is the first time I have done a masculine version of Vintage, but I think it turned out okay.  I decided to use the Lots of Love Letterpress Plate again.  It's been so long since I had used it until last week (Blushing Trinkets of Love) and I enjoyed it more than I remembered.

Again I used Classic Ink with the Letterpress Plate because I wanted a very faded look - almost like it was made on a brown paper bag.  I embossed the heart stamp and sentiment with Cherry Cobbler Embossing Powder and then I lightly sanded some of it off.  Then I used Crumb Cake and Tea Stain to age everything and used markers with the Color Spritzer Tool.  I also used the Cutter Kit to distress the edges of all the pieces.  Hope you enjoy it!

CAS FRIDAY, Blushing Trinkets of Love Letterpress Plate Card...

Today I have one of my favorite techniques to use with the Letterpress Plates.  Letterpress is fabulous with Craft Ink for a vibrant look.  However, I really like it for a tone on tone look with Classic Ink!  I used it for this Clean and Simple card and I love how it turned out!  I let the Letterpress take center stage with just ribbon and one of the fabulous new Trinket Hearts (from the new Occasions Mini Catalog) and Trinket Keys tied on to the ribbon to accent it.

I added a stamped piece to the back of the Trinket Heart by coloring the word "love" of one of the stamps from the P.S. I Love You stamp set and then just the "u" from the same stamp underneath it.  Then I cut it out with the smallest heart from the Hearts Collection Framelits and embossed it, before adhering it to the back with Multi glue.  So simple!

LETTERPRESS TIPS:

• Pigment ink, such as Craft Stampin’ Ink, works best for letterpress projects. Classic (dye-based) Stampin’ Ink does not lay down evenly on the plate or transfer evenly to paper.
• Do not apply too much ink, or your image will not look crisp.
• You can use a Stampin’ Spot™, Stampin’ Pad™, or brayer to apply the ink.
• If you want to apply different colors of ink to one plate, it’s easier to use a Stampin’ Spot. Simply dab the Stampin’ Spot on the plate.
• If you want to apply one color of ink to the entire plate, you can also use our un-inked Craft Stampin’ Pad, filled with the Craft Stampin’ Ink refill color of your choice, applying the ink from the pad directly to your Letterpress Plate.
• If you want to apply one color of ink to the entire plate, it might be easier to use a brayer to apply the ink evenly. A brayer is also helpful if you want to create multiple projects because it allows you to re-ink the plate quickly. Simply ink our un-inked Craft Pad with Craft Stampin’ Ink, ink the brayer thoroughly using the Craft Stampin’ Pad, and roll the brayer across your Letterpress Plate.
• Because the Letterpress Plates emboss so deeply into your paper, they may press into extremely small recessed areas, such as scratches in cutting pads. For best results, we recommend that you use a cutting pad that is relatively new and unscratched.
• Letterpress Plates work well on card stock and other paper. Porous paper (such as watercolor paper) or paper with weakened fibers (such as textured card stock) will create a deeper impression.
• Make sure you test your materials before creating your projects to ensure you get the results you want.
