PUMPKIN CARVING & Ms. MAD HATTER...

Today was pumpkin carving day!  My youngest daughter, Colleen, carved an awesome headless horseman pumpkin last week, but it has already shriveled up and I forgot to take a picture of it.  :o(  Today, my oldest daughter, Jenni, and her roommate, Bill, and I carved our pumpkins.  Here they are:

Bill's is the skeleton on the left.  Jenni's is the haunted house and spooky tree in the middle.  Mine is the scary pumpkin face on the right.   Here we are working on them.  Fun, fun!  Bill was shy and hiding under a hood, so he's not in the pic.

Colleen put together a great costume for Halloween - Ms. Mad Hatter.  She has her first Halloween party tonight, so I snapped some shots to share with everyone.  She looks awesome!  Enjoy!

CRAFT SHOW CHRISTMAS MAKE & TAKE...

Today Jenni and I worked a craft show at a local high school.  We've been preparing for it for weeks now (which is why I haven't had many projects to share with you recently).  Many enjoyed the little Make & Takes we provided.  I think the kids especially loved it!  I thought you might like to see them.

This is the Christmas one, designed by Jenni.  I love this stamp set because it has images that cover several upcoming holidays giving you lots of bang for the buck.  It also lends itself to some fun techniques.  This card is very simple and quick to make.  For the trees, ink up the stamp in Pear Pizzazz and then very lightly kiss the stamp to Cherry Cobbler.  The trees won't look the same way twice.  Sometimes they will be much more green, other times more red.  That is the beauty of them, so don't sweat trying to make them perfectly uniform!  Then dot on glue with the 2-Way Glue Pen and sprinkle with Dazzling Diamonds (although I can't get the shimmer of the glitter to show up on camera for some reason - they ARE sparkly).  I will share the Halloween Make & Take with you tomorrow.  Enjoy!

SPOOKY STAMP CAMP, Wicked Cool Witch Boots...

Today was my annual Halloween Spooky Stamp Camp.  Lots of spooky goodness going on!  I had to stop myself from making more and more projects.  I figured the ladies would want to go home at some point!  Some of the extra projects will probably show up here eventually.

This Halloween card is the first project to share.  Jenni designed this card. I let her teach it, too, and I made my own along with everyone else so I would have a sample card.  It finally came out well, but I had the dickens of a time with it.  Everything seemed to go wrong and I fell way behind the rest of the group!  But I finished it up in time to take this picture to share with you.  So, you see - I, too, can have as much difficulty as anyone else - for those of you who think I stamp everything perfectly all the time.  LOL.  Enjoy!

THANKS A LATTE FOR ALL YOU DO...

This is an easy little project that Jenni threw together.  She used retired products, but many of you ask for projects with retired sets, so you have ideas to use them for.  For current product, you could use the Morning Coffee stamp set and/or the "love you a latte" from the Pun Fun stamp set.

Jenni is a Starbucks manager and several of her baristas went above and beyond for her this week when they were really shorthanded.  She wanted to give them a little gift card in appreciation, so she made this holder for the cards.  It is very quick to make - Jenni didn't even stamp on the whole thing, so you can have this done in no time.

THANKS A LATTE FOR ALL YOU DO GIFT CARD HOLDER SUPPLIES:
  • Stamps Sanded (#109294, $17.95), Sip by Sip (retired)
  • Card stock Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel, Very Vanilla
  • Ink – Chocolate Chip
  • RibbonSoft Suede 3/8" Polka Dot Grosgrain (retired)
  • PunchesSlit (retired)
  • Accessories Clips Assortment (#112580, $6.95)
  • Tools – Stampin' Sponges
DIRECTIONS:
  1. Cut Chocolate Chip card stock to 4 1/4" x 11".
  2. In landscape position, score at 3.5" and 7.5".
  3. Stamp a front and inside top panel for the card as desired.
  4. Cut Very Vanilla to 4" x 3".
  5. Use slit punch to punch both ends for the gift card to slide into.  Check your gift card length to be sure where you need your slits to be.
  6. Adhere the Very Vanilla to the inside center panel.  Do not put adhesive on the half moon area inside the slits.
  7. Use a Clip or Mini Library Clip to hold your card closed.
  8. Add ribbon to the clip.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JENNI!...

Today is Jenni's 28th birthday! As many of you know, Jenni is my oldest daughter and is a frequent contributor to my blog as well as working with me for some classes and workshops.  She is always complaining when I post current pictures of her, so I thought I would share one from her baby years.  Isn't she adorable?   I love you, Jenni!

The whole family went to see Despicable Me (funny, cute, movie) and then to Red Robin for dinner and Skinny Dip yogurt for dessert - all Jenni's choices!  She was so full then though that we are putting off presents and cake (well actually she chose a giant cookie & ice cream) until tomorrow night.

I thought I would share the card I made her anyway and hope that she doesn't check out my blog between now and tomorrow night!  :D  I loved the Music of Love card I made and used a few of the elements from that one for her birthday card.  But, of course, I had to personalize it just for Jenni!  She loves purple, so I used Elegant Eggplant.  She took five years of French and was a whiz at it, plus one of her favorite stamp sets is Chic Boutique, so I wanted to include a Parisian theme.  And as it happened, she bought coasters today with the Eiffel Tower on them!  :)  So it worked out well, I think.  I hope she likes it!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL...

It's late I know, but I hope you all had a FABULOUS Mother's day today!  For us, it was very relaxing as we had a cook-out on the back deck with the family and sat and talked all afternoon.  By the end of the day though, we were all yawning and snoozing.  It has been a crazy, tiring weekend here with Colleen's Birthday Friday, Mike's graduation on Saturday, Mother's Day today and my in-laws visiting through the weekend.  Crazy, but lovely!  It's wonderful having the family together.   Life is good!

I thought I would share the card that Jenni made me for Mother's Day.  The main piece is one that I made to show on my blog for the Two-Step special last month.  I ended up not liking it very much and was going to toss it.  Jenni said no way - that she liked it and would use it for something.  Then to my surprise it showed up in my Mother's Day card and I didn't even recognize it!  :o)  I really like the way she "matted" the MOM stamp and popped them out on Stampin' Dimensionals.  Very cute!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME...

Yesterday was my birthday.  Much thanks to those who sent birthday wishes via email and Facebook yesterday!  Got a little break from our remodeling and spring rejuvenation undergoings.  Jen took me out to lunch and for a little plant shopping.  She got me an Egg Genie (yes I have a little penchant for selected "as seen on tv" items) and some island colored Tervis Tumblers I have been wanting.  Colleen and Devin got me a beautiful hanging basket that I had admired but dare not spend the very high price for. Michael made my favorite dinner, Chicken Parm, and got a yummy almond cake for me.

And great news for all of you... for my gift, Michael said I could pick out a dSLR camera of my choosing!  Yippee!  Finally, better pictures for all of you.  Right now I am debating between a Nikon D90 and a D5000.  It has to be able to take fabulous card/project pictures, of course.  But I also take a lot of nature pictures and family pictures (often inside in low light).  Anyone have any input?

This is the card that Jenni made me.  It features a retired set, but it is one of my favorite sets and many of you have asked me to feature retired sets, too, so that you can have inspiration for the ones you own and love.  Also, I do have one new set left for sale ($22.95) if anyone is interested.  Enjoy!
