Sad that the quote by Francis Bellamy doesn't say Under God since it IS the Pledge of Allegience that was being quoted.. :(
ReplyDeleteLynn, this quote is from 1892. Francis Bellamy was the original composer of the Pledge of Allegiance - it did not contain the words "under God" at that time. It underwent four modifications after that including the additions of the words "under God" in 1954. I went with his original quote since he is the originator. Sorry to disappoint. :(
