Today is Flag Day, so in celebration I made this CAS Stars and Stripes card:

Here are few quotes about Old Glory that mean something to me in honor of Flag Day...

"We take the stars from heaven, the red from our mother country, separating it by white stripes, thus showing that we have separated from her, and the white stripes shall go down to posterity, representing our liberty."
 ~ by George Washington, attributed

"I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."  ~ by Francis Bellamy, The Youth's Companion, 8 September 1892

"The flag of the United States has not been created by rhetorical sentences in declarations of independence and in bills of rights. It has been created by the experience of a great people, and nothing is written upon it that has not been written by their life. It is the embodiment, not of a sentiment, but of a history." ~ by Woodrow Wilson

For this card, I used several products from our Summer Mini Catalog:  Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Red, White & Blue Wheel, and the July Fourth Stamp set.  Our (small) Star Punch is retiring, so be sure to order one before it sells out!

For that matter, be sure you get ALL the retiring punches!  Admittedly, I am a Punchaholic, but honestly, you do not want to miss out on these.  Here's why:

  • Horizontal Slot - awesome for little gift bags, gift card holders and I use it often in Punch Art
  • Trio Flower - use it ALL the time - search my Punch Art for it!
  • Star (small) - love it!
  • Slit - awesome for gift cards and have you seen the slit punch edge technique?  I will show you soon. HAVE TO HAVE!
  • My Way - don't use it a ton, but it does come in handy
  • Double Rectangle - amazingly easy flat bows on cards!
  • Tag Corner - ok, I don't use this one much at all  :(
  • Stamp Sets – July Fourth (W #118523 $18.95  C #120063 $14.95), Red, White & Blue Wheel (#118622, $8.50)
  • Card stock – Night of Navy, Whisper White
  • Ink – Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Not Quite Navy, Night of Navy Markers
  • RibbonReal Red 3/4" Polka-Dot Grosgrain (#115605, $4.48), Real Red 1/2" Striped Grosgrain (#110714, $7.95)
  • PunchesStar (#109045, $10.95), Large Star (#110710, $15.95)
  • AccessoriesStampin' Dimensionals
  • Tools – Big Shot, Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (#119976, $7.95)

  1. Sad that the quote by Francis Bellamy doesn't say Under God since it IS the Pledge of Allegience that was being quoted.. :(

  2. Lynn, this quote is from 1892. Francis Bellamy was the original composer of the Pledge of Allegiance - it did not contain the words "under God" at that time. It underwent four modifications after that including the additions of the words "under God" in 1954. I went with his original quote since he is the originator. Sorry to disappoint. :(

Thank you for blessing me with your comments! I truly appreciate each and every one. Have a fabulous day!
