BLOOMIN' BLUE-TI-FUL CRACKED GLASS...

We had a fun time tonight at my Technique Thursday Class... well, this time it was a Technique Tuesday class due to scheduling conflicts.  Everyone was loving this technique using Glassy Glaze™ and their cards came out beautifully!   It is one of my favorite techniques as it has such a delicate, antique look!  Here is the card we made to go along with the technique page for our Technique Album..
BLOOMIN' BLUE-TI-FUL CARD SUPPLIES:
  • Stamps – Bloomin' Beautiful  #11490  $25.95,  En Francais #109521 $17.95
  • Card Stock – Brocade Blue, Whisper White, Bella Bleu DSP
  • Ink – Brocade Blue, Bordering Blue, Old Olive, Going Gray, Stazon, VersaMark
  • Accessories – Glassy Glaze Enamel Embossing Powder, White Organza Ribbon (watercolored with Brocade Blue), Stampin' Sponge
CRACKED GLASS TECHNIQUE:
  1. Stamp your image on card stock.  Color as desired.
  2. Apply VersaMark to entire card stock piece directly with the ink pad.
  3. Pour Glassy Glaze over it and emboss.  Do NOT overemboss – the surface will be bumpy.
  4. Apply VersaMark and emboss with Glassy Glaze 2-3 more times.
  5. Surface will get smoother each time.  Final time should be very glassy.
  6. Place card stock in the freezer for about 5 minutes.  It's okay it is warps.
  7. Remove card stock from the freezer and carefully bend the card stock at different angles until it cracks.
  8. Optional:  May sponge the top with colored ink and get it into the cracks to make them stand out.  Wipe excess ink off the surface of the "glass" with damp paper towel.
UPDATE:   Glassy Glaze has now retired. You can achieve the same effect with more coats of our Clear Embossing Powder.
