HOLLY JOLLY STAMP CAMP, Christmas Tree Pyramid Explosion Box...

This is the last project I have to share from my Holly Jolly Stamp Camp.  This is a Pyramid Explosion Box that I have decorated as a Christmas Tree.  The basic box is very easy to do, but I'll be honest - the "fir" on the tree is time consuming to do.  It was Jenni's idea to add it and it is really cute!  Save it for someone really special!  I don't think you have to add it, but it certainly is adorable!

We didn't decorate the inside of the box as this was just one of several projects we were making at the Stamp Camp, so I left them to decorate it themselves.   We did not as time was a factor.

I did do a full tutorial for this one (following the recipe) even though I don't usually do one for class projects as I feel that is a benefit reserved for those who pay to come to the class.  However, consider this an early Christmas present from me!  Enjoy!

CHRISTMAS TREE PYRAMID EXPLOSION BOX SUPPLIES:
  • Card Stock – Garden Green 12" x 12" Textured
  • Punches – Heart to Heart (#119881, $16.95)
  • Ribbon – 1/4" Daffodil Delight Grosgrain (#120992, $6.95), Silver Tinsel Trim (#120994, $7.95)
  • Accessories – Glimmer Brights Brads (#121006, $4.95), Mini Glue Dots (#103683, $4.95)
  • Tools – Paper Trimmer/Scorer, Crop-A-Dile (#108362, $29.95)

PYRAMID EXPLOSION BOX DIRECTIONS:
Click on pictures to enlarge pictures to see details.

1. With 12” X 12” cardstock, score at 4” & 8”.
Turn and repeat.

2. Cut out the four corner pieces using either a paper
trimmer or paper snips.

3. Score from the outer points to the base of each of the four squares as shown.

4. Trim the “tabs” on the side of each outer square from the outer scored point of the square until about ½” or ¼” from the base of the square with paper snips.

OR

Use a pencil to mark each of the outer squares 1-1/2” up on each side of the square. Use a craft knife or paper trimmer to cut the pieces off the side of the squares, forming points at the outer edge.

5. If not doing a tree and you want to stamp your boxes, do so now.  Fold under any flaps that you do not want stamping on.  Wheels work wonderful for these!

Or if you want triangles of cardstock for focal pieces, cut them 1/4" - 1/2" smaller than the pyramid box sides.

6. Using a Crop-a-Dile, make a small hole for the ribbon near each point of the triangle.

7. Fold the box along the score lines folding the side flaps in.  Thread the ribbon “in” through your front hole (this is where the bow will be tied) and “out” through the adjacent triangle's hole, then the next one and lastly you come back to the first hole.  Tie a bow as shown in the next picture.
8. For a Christmas tree, punch approximately 100 of the tall hearts with the Heart to Heart Punch.  You could also color distress or glitter the heart tops (which are turned upside down when applying) for even more dimension, if desired.  Adhere them with a Mini Glue Dot in an overlapping method to each side of the tree. Be sure to adhere them only to a side and do NOT cover the corners or you will be unable to open the box.

9. Add tinsel trim or ribbon and glimmer brads for ornaments.  I snipped the prongs off the Glimmer Brads and adhered to with a Mini Glue Dot so that the inside of the box could still be decorated.

CANDY CANE CHRISTMAS FOLDED FABRIC ORNAMENT...

This week was my upline's Christmas downline meeting. We had an ornament exchange and I was fortunate to be able to choose this lovely Iris Fold Ornament made with our Candy Cane Christmas Designer Fabric.  It was made by my upline, Susan Elise Morton.  I chose it because I was out of the Candy Cane Christmas fabric and wanted to have it to show and, of course, because it was beautiful.  I have made these before and they are so fun.  I will try to do a video of one with the new Occasions Mini Fabrics next year!

HOLLY JOLLY STAMP CAMP, Present Gift Card Holder...

Wow!  Second snow day already here in Virginia Beach and it's not even Christmas!  And they're talking about snow on Sunday, too.  Wild!  I'm staying tucked in here as it is way too dangerous out there.  Most people here are not used to snow and don't know how to drive in it at all.

So since I'm tucked in I thought I would show you another project from my Holly Jolly Stamp Camp.  It is a Present Gift Card Holder.  I made a similar one last year, but never showed it on my blog.  This time I did the inside differently.  The FREE tutorial follows the recipe.

If you look at the two card holders in the picture below, you will see that one is taller than the other.  They are both cut EXACTLY the same.  The only difference is how high the present top is adhered on the back of the bottom (card base).  The higher it is placed, the taller the present will be.  I like the shorter one, but I wanted to show both options.

Both the Tag Til Christmas and Gifted stamp sets as well as the Jolly Holiday DSP are part of the Holiday Bundles sets that are 20% off through today only, so be sure to check them out!

PRESENT GIFT CARD HOLDER SUPPLIES:
  • Stamp Sets – Tags til Christmas (W#120847, $30.95, C#121169 $22.95), Gifted (W#116982 $27.95, C#120480 $19.95), Tree Trimmings (#116722, $14.95), Seasonal Sentiments (W#120824 $15.95, C#121130 $11.95)
  • Card Stock – Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Whisper White, Jolly Holiday DSP
  • Ink – Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso Classic & Markers
  • Punches – 1" Circle (#119868, $10.95), 1-1/4" Circle (#119861, $15.95), 1-3/4" x 7/8" (Large) Oval, (#119855, $15.95), 1-3/8" x 5/8" (Small) Oval (#119863, $15.95)
  • Ribbon – 1/2" Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding (#120992, $6.95), Gold Elastic Cord (retired)
  • Accessories – Glimmer Brights Brads (#121006, $4.95), Sticky Strip (#104294, $6.95), Velcro Dots (cut in half)
  • Tools – Paper Piercer & Mat, Paper Trimmer/Scorer
GIFT CARD DIRECTIONS:
  1. Cut card stock to 4" x 11".  Score in the landscape position at 4", 5.5" and 7".
  2. Fold each score line as follows:  Valley fold on the 4" score.  Mountain fold on the 5.5" fold.  Valley fold on the 7" score.
  3. Sticky strip the two undersides of the mountain fold together.  Fold to form your 4" x 4" "present bottom" card base with the "flap" on the inside of you card.
  4. For the "present top", cut card stock to 3" x 4-1/4".  In the portrait position, score at 1-1/2" and fold.  Adhere the inside of the "top" to the upper back of the present "bottom" (fold is at the bottom of the card base) with Sticky Strip.  As stated above, where you adhere the "top" determines how tall your present is.
  5. Apply DSP on the inside top, adjusting the height of the DSP to cover the entire top including the present top.
  6. Apply Sticky Strip to the short sides of  the top side of the inside "flap" and adhere it up on the top inside to form the pocket for the gift card.
  7. To make the Bow Loops, punch a Small Oval Punch out of card stock.  With the Large Oval Punch, punch around the Small Oval hole in the card stock.  This results in one loop.  Repeat four or five more times.  Overlap the loops and glue together before adhering on the present "top.
  8. Stamp and embellish the rest of the gift card holder as shown.

HOLLY JOLLY STAMP CAMP, Christmas Penguin Box...

Project #2 from my Holly Jolly Stamp Camp is this adorable little Penguin box!  I knew I had to do a penguin project as both my girls love penguins especially Colleen.  After trying out a few different ideas, we ended up going with this one.  However, Jenni and I had a difference of opinion on whether to have the penguin wearing "earmuffs" or not.  I gave people the choice to do them or not, but I still love the earmuffs, Jen!  I would like it if the handle/earmuff band were not as high, but I wanted to be sure you could get treats in and out easily.

Jen named him "Private" after one of the Madagascar penguins.  It suits him, so Private Christmas it is!   :)

This little box uses the Fancy Favor Die, which is one of my FAVORITES!  It is such a useful little box!  It can be adapted for so many different holiday characters and themes.  I hope you enjoy this little guy!

Here is Jen's preference:

SHELLI ON THE TODAY SHOW...

Shelli Gardner, Stampin' Up!'s CEO and co-founder, was on the Today show for just a moment this morning. Stampin' Up! is again generously participating in the annual Toy Drive and she was there to share it.  She was great as always!  It is very brief (less than a minute), but in case you missed it, I thought I would share it. Enjoy!

Dec. 13: Shelli Gardner, of Stampin’ Up!, announces her company’s generous donation to TODAY’s annual holiday toy drive.
